# Meet the main agent

> Learn where to find the conversational main agent, what it can help with, and when to create a saved specialised agent for repeatable work.

The main agent lives in Chat. It can help you work through a request in conversation, use tools available to you, and help draft a specialised agent when you want a repeatable workflow.

**1. Switch to Chat**

Use the Chat control in the sidebar. Start a conversation with a clear goal and the relevant people or dates.

**2. Review the conversation**

The main agent may ask follow-up questions, show a proposed action, or ask you to connect an account for a tool it needs.

**3. Choose a repeatable workflow**

For work you want to run on an event or schedule, ask the main agent to help create a specialised agent and review its saved setup.

> The main agent and specialised agents have different workflows. A specialised agent has saved instructions, triggers or schedules, permissions, and run history.

## When to use Chat

Use Chat for a question or an action you want to work through now. The main agent responds in the conversation and can ask for missing details. If the same job should happen repeatedly, use the conversation to draft a specialised agent, then review that agent's saved setup before it runs.
