# Connect Google Chat

> Connect the Google Chat app to Worklayer, install it in the right conversations, and check work-email matching for senders.

Google Chat lets people message the Worklayer agent directly or mention it in a space. The sender is matched by work email and uses their own Worklayer permissions.

## Connect and install

An administrator opens **Settings > Integrations > Available > Google Chat** and completes the Google Workspace connection with the grants the app requests. Then install the Worklayer app in Google Chat and add it to each direct chat or space where people should use it. If the app was already installed before this connection was set up, remove and add it again so the installation is registered.

## Try a conversation

Send a direct message to the agent or mention it in a space where it has been added. If a sender cannot be matched, compare their Google work email with their Worklayer account. The agent can only act with that person's permitted information and actions.

On the provider's **Tool permissions** tab, review the tools for receiving mentions or direct messages and replying to people or spaces. A saved agent that sends into Google Chat also needs suitable tool access.
