# Connect Slack

> Connect a Slack workspace and decide which channel, member, message, and write actions Worklayer agents may use.

Slack is a company integration for channel and message actions. An administrator connects the workspace, then decides which read and write tools agents may use.

## Connect and grant tools

Open **Settings > Integrations > Available > Slack** and complete the Slack connection for the intended workspace. Return to Slack's **Tool permissions** tab. Read actions include listing channels and members and reading channel messages. Write actions include sending messages, creating channels, and inviting members. Use **Always allow** or **Block** according to the company's policy before giving an agent access.

## Use Slack with an agent

Open a saved agent and check its **Instructions**, **Tools**, and **Permissions**. Confirm which channel or person a message is meant for and whether the agent needs read access, write access, or both. After the agent runs, check the destination message or its run history. A connection alone does not make every agent able to post.

If a person messages the Worklayer agent in Slack and is not recognised, check the work email associated with that Slack user and their Worklayer account. A sender's own permissions still apply.
