# Create and manage tasks

> Create an assigned task, add priority and due date, then use comments, subtasks, and activity to follow its progress.

**Tasks** track assigned work with an assignee, priority, due date, comments, subtasks, and activity. They are separate from **Requests**, which holds time off, attendance, expense, and other items awaiting a decision.

## Create a task

Open **Tasks** and choose the Tasks view. Start a new task and enter a clear title. Choose the assignee, category, priority, and due date that fit the work. Add a description that tells the assignee what completion means. Check the person and date before creating it.

## Work in the detail view

Open the task to add comments, subtasks, or supporting files. Use the activity list to see changes. A comment is useful for an update or question; a subtask is better for a piece of work that needs its own completion. If the title or due date changes, the task's activity reflects that change.

## Finish and find it later

Keep current work in **Active**. Completed or cancelled tasks move to **Archived** after the app's retention window for the active list. Use the archived view to find older work. If you cannot open a task, it may have been deleted or your role may not have access to it.

An agent can create or assign a task, but the resulting work is tracked here. Check the task detail after the agent run to verify the assignee and content.
