A trigger or schedule starts a specialised agent without a new Chat request. Read its timing and ownership before saving: only one agent can run on each trigger.

Choose when the agent runs

Open Agents, select the agent, and open Triggers. The event list includes employee, time off, expense, and attendance changes. For example, Time-off request submitted fires when a new request is awaiting approval; Expense submitted also covers an edited pending expense or a resubmitted rejected one. Employee started fires once on the employee’s start date at 9:00 in their timezone. Choose a schedule instead when the job should start at a chosen recurring time. Read the description beside a trigger before using it. Termination recorded, for example, responds when the termination is recorded or its date changes, not when the employee leaves. These differences matter when an agent sends messages or creates tasks.

Resolve ownership

Worklayer allows one agent per trigger. If the trigger belongs to another agent, review the warning before taking it. Archiving the existing holder stops its future runs and frees its triggers, but its run history remains available. Restoring an archived agent can archive the agents that currently hold its triggers, so check the restore dialog before confirming.

Pause or archive later

Pause agent prevents triggers from starting new runs while keeping the agent and its setup. Resume agent makes it eligible again. Archive agent stops it and frees its triggers; use the Archived filter or Show archived to find it later. Check its Run history after a trigger fires to see whether it finished, needed input, or had nothing to do.
