An expense reviewer should inspect the submitted claim, not just its amount. Requests and the expense detail show the type, description, supporting receipt, policy context, and the employee’s submission status.

Open the complete claim

Go to Tasks > Requests and select an expense awaiting review. Check the employee and expense type. For a regular expense, compare the amount, date, category, and description with the Attached receipt. Use Open in new tab if you need a larger view of the receipt. For Mileage, check the origin, destination, distance, and amount shown. For Per diem, check the travel details and breakdown.

Read a policy warning in context

A claim can be submitted while exceeding a spending policy. The warning tells you to review the rule and the business reason; it does not itself mean the claim failed or must be rejected. If a receipt or another detail is unclear, use the information visible in the claim to decide what correction is needed.

Decide and explain

Use Approve when the claim is ready. If it is not, choose Reject and enter a Rejection reason that tells the employee what to fix. The expense detail records the decision and reviewer. The employee can use Edit & resubmit on a rejected claim, so make the reason specific enough to act on.
Review actions are permission based. If the decision controls are missing, check that you are the assigned reviewer and that the claim is still awaiting a decision.
